Mordechai Korf

Chief Executive Officer

Mordechai “Motti” Korf was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Optima Specialty Steel, Inc. in March 2013. Mr. Korf served as the company’s President from 2008 through 2011. In 2011, Mr. Korf was appointed Chairman of the Board for Optima. Mr. Korf is a Co-Founder of Optima International, a private investment firm with holdings in several businesses located throughout the United States and Eastern Europe. Mr. Korf has established several investment vehicles to pursue opportunities in real estate, steel manufacturing, telecommunications, oil and gas. Mr. Korf is CEO of the real estate company, Optima Ventures, LLC and ferroalloy manufacturer and supplier, Georgian American Alloys, Inc.

Michael Salamon

President & Chief Operating Officer

Michael Salamon joined Niagara LaSalle Corporation in 2004 and became Executive Vice President of Commercial in 2010. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Company in May 2012, President of Optima and Niagara in March 2013, and was appointed to the Optima board of directors in November 2016. Prior to joining Niagara, Mr. Salamon held various commercial positions at Cargill (North Star Steel) for over 18 years. He is a member of the Cold Finished Steel Bar Institute, and was previously a member of their board of directors, as well as chairman. He has been a member of the U.S. Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Steel (ITAC-12) since 2010. Mr. Salamon holds a B.A. in Economics from John Carroll University and attended the Advanced Management Program at the University of Chicago in 2011.

Thad Florence

General Counsel

Thad Florence joined Optima Specialty Steel, Inc., as General Counsel in May 2012. Prior to that, Mr. Florence was the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of SFN Group, Inc., a publicly traded staffing, recruiting and outsourcing company, from 2007-2012. In the 10 years prior, Mr. Florence held several in-house counsel positions with publicly traded companies. He was in private practice from 1995-1997 as an associate attorney with a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, law firm. Mr. Florence holds a B.A. in Biology and Spanish from Lawrence University and obtained his law degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Mony Bistritzky

VP of Procurement & Integration, OSS and Procurement Director, GAA

As both the VP of Procurement & Integration for Optima Specialty Steel and the Procurement Director for Georgian American Alloys, Mr. Bistritzky oversees all aspects of purchasing raw materials and integrating maintenance, repair, and operation (MRO) capabilities. Mr. Bistritzky joined OSS in 2011 as Purchasing Manager, where he was responsible for managing the operational elements and supply relationships associated with acquiring materials and supplies. Prior to joining OSS, Mr. Bistritzky held several management positions, including Chief Operating Officer, during his 14 year tenure with Vinyl Pak, Inc., a leading manufacturer of custom printing and packaging.

Anthony Verkruyse

Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, Vice President

Anthony Verkruyse was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Optima Specialty Steel, Inc., in March 2013. He has been the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Niagara LaSalle Corporation since 2003. Prior to that position, he was Vice President of Finance. From 1991 to 2001, Mr. Verkruyse was Chief Financial Officer, Secretary and Treasurer of Huntco Inc. and Huntco Steel, Inc., a processor of flat-rolled steel. From 1980 to 1991, Mr. Verkruyse practiced public accounting in the audit and tax departments of Price Waterhouse LLP. He received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri and attended the Advanced Management Program at Washington University in St. Louis in 2011.
